Addicted Users Season 75 - Filled Topic

Anaheim has been crowned the new WS Champ and we've found owners for the teams open. Stay tuned in case someone falls out, otherwise, check in 2 1/2 months from now to see if there is another opportunity to join. Good luck.

NL North

Former Boise Franchise (67-95, tied for 2nd)

After 8 division titles this team has found itself in 2nd the last 3 years. Last season was particularly disappointing as the team also finished under .500. A team in the NL that hits .260 and scores 766 runs can be competitive but will need a bit more firepower to challenge for the League championship. 5 players put up 20 or more HRs, with Torey Melo leading the team with 28. Francisley Fernandez hit .335 and Yuniesky Mesa scored 106 runs. Finding more power and a way to get more runs across the plate will be important.

The pitching staff struggled to a 4.66 ERA with 4 of the starters posting 10 loses, the Galahad Montgomery posed a 5.79 ERA with his 20 saves, and Odrisamer Aybar only converting 5 of his 11 save opportunities. Finding a true closer and adding 1-2 SP's should be high on this team's offseason shopping list.

Sadly, what little talent that can be found in the Farm is not going to be ready for the majors next season and probably not the season after either so the FA & trade markets will be needed to either bring in stopgaps or upgrade the roster. This would be a good rebuild for a veteran owner that is looking for a team to transform. A newbie would need the patience to learn the game as they slowly built the roster without rushing into trades that might be harmful to the long-term health of the team.

NL East

Former Burlington Franchise (69-93, 4th pl)

After a successful 9 yr run, this ship has sunk below .500 each of the last 6 seasons. Last year's team saw an owner need to leave during Spring Training and the replacement did well to avoid a 100-loss campaign. The offense struggle mightily to a .231 average and with 2 of the team's sluggers' windup as all or nothing types, almost no one is safe when new ownership takes over.

On the mound the hurlers posted a strong 3.46 ERA, yet 20 blown saves show that a revamping of the bullpen may be needed. Candy Buckley did put up 38 saves, yet he also missed 10 other opportunities and compile a 4.50 ERA meaning he may be better suited elsewhere on the staff. On the other hand, the rotation appears to be a strength and would benefit from an upgrade to the bullpen.

Most of the work for the new owner will be to inject new life into the offense while adding a key piece or two to the pen. There does seem to be some minor league talent that needs some more time to develop so the new owner will need to show some patience with it and fill in at the ML level with some short-term options. This may be an excellent opportunity for someone learning the game since they can focus on building the offense while just tinkering with the pitching. A veteran owner would easily be able to jump in to quickly turn this franchise around

There was a time in this game where NL teams were picked up immediately after being posted and AL teams were harder to fill. Over the last few RL years that has flipped. With MLB switching to the universal DH that may continue until HBD also adapts. Yet, I'm sure there are still some baseball traditionalists that what to play the game in the manner in which it was created.

That's what I'm looking for to take over these available teams. Diehard fans that love the game and want to build a franchise to accumulate WS hardware. If you're interested in either of the teams listed, please do not hesitate to contact me, it may be your only opportunity to join us during our 75th campaign.

With the WS underway, the current season is nearing a conclusion. My guess is that we will roll on Thursday or Friday and be ready to roll over next weekend. The window of opportunity to join our group is closing so send me a message if you're ready to join one of HBD's top worlds. As the saying goes, "he who hesitates is lost." It's your move.

Five games into the WS and it's been a battle so far. My projections were probably off; I now believe that we will be rolling on Thursday. With the addition of a new owner for the Boise franchise, we will roll immediately. The franchise can be moved if you wish and you'll then be ready to begin your journey. Contact me with your interest.
