Kenesaw Mountain Landis is going into its 27th season of existence. We have had a strong core of owners for awhile now, and we are looking for a few more to keep us going for next season and beyond! Information on the openings are below. You can choose any city you want when you replace them.
Over half of KML's owners have been around for at least 10 seasons, and 2/3 have been around for at least 5 seasons. Since I've taken over as commissioner, our wait times between seasons have been minimal. So you can count on a great group of owners and not having to wait months between seasons if you join us!
We also have a 3-year, 180 win MWR (cannot have fewer than 55 wins in consecutive seasons) to help avoid ultra tanking.
Current Openings:
AL East
Cincinnati (98-64)
One of the best teams in the league, previous owner foulballz did a fantastic job building up a contender for his tenure in KML. They have been stuck behind another good team the last few years, but have a stable of talent and should still be competitive for the foreseeable future. Let's start with the younger players on their current roster. 2B Geronimo Gonzales is only 23 years old and a solid hitter. Power hitting 3B Fernando Hechavarria is only 25. SS Albert Colon has the defensive tools to play SS and can provide some offense at the age of 25. Their vets include some solid hitters like LF Albie Valverde who is still one of the best in the game, CF Ismael Sardinha who is terrific defensively and still good offensively, and RF Gonzalez Valenzuela who feasts on lefties. They don't have as many good pitchers, but Juancito Romo and Alex Lee were all star SPs last season. Their minors include some prospects in P Eugenio Chacin, IF Jhonny Castro, and P Peter Chen. This is a great team that deserves a solid owner to take them over, so I want someone with experience to take this job.
AL South
El Paso (86-76)
El Paso has won their division for 5 straight seasons and whoever takes them over is getting a well run franchise from the owner who was there for more than 10 seasons. They are build around their pitching staff, and they have some excellent pitchers including Shane Blevins, Walt Ratliff, and Raymond Branson. Offensively, they have 1B Brady Radinsky who has an OBP machine, solid two way C Sterling Abraham, and an excellent power hitter in 2B Alex Rupp. Their minors aren't stacked due to having great records over the last few seasons, but they have some potential ML players at the AAA level to supplement their roster. They only have $39 million in committed payroll before arbitration, so they can reload and be a contender again this season. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to have elite pitching and wants to be a contender right away.
NL North
Tacoma (77-85)
Tacoma is a team that has had some success without a large payroll. They have just $36 million in total payroll before arbitration, and only one contract committed to next season for $6.4 million. Thus, the next owner can either be aggressive in free agency to improve the team or make a heavy play in the international free agent market. Some of their talented players include power hitting 1B Ramon Zhang and 2B Elvis Einertson (although he is better suited to play somewhere else in the field) as well as the solid offensive RF Irving Quentin. 23-year old pitcher Moises Aquino has also been a bright spot for this team. Some of their promising prospects include CF Zephyr Tobin, P Tayron Dale, OF Jandel Caruso, and 1B Orlando Oropesa. They have the 12th pick in the draft and they have at least one free agent who should be Type B at worst, so they have the opportunity to acquire some extra picks.
Chicago (65-97)
A team in the midst of a rebuild, Chicago has some good players they can flip for prospects. 2B
Jerry Green is a solid defender with some offensive upside. P
Miguel Alicea still has some good years left in him. Some of their prospects include SS
Miguel Costilla, P
Derrick Mercedes, and 1B
Rhiner Avilan. They will have the #5 pick in next season's draft.
Because this team needs some work, I will offer a $25 for taking the job this season and a $10 GC if you return for season 28. I'd prefer someone that has experience to take it over.
