Well, this is a first lol
This is actually not the first time someone has done this, but it hasn't become a habit, so I haven't had to address it.
Basically, I'm not a fan.
First, it puts the onus on me to figure out who was drafted. I already get things wrong with out of order picks. With this I get both an out of order pick and a puzzle to figure out what the answer turned out to be.
Second, how do I limit what is allowed. OK, there is one pick left so I post two. I get one or the other. Great.
What if there are two picks left and I'm running late, Can I post 3 and move on? is that OK?
What if I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow so after my pick near the top of a round I post 47 picks so that I have one more than the 46 ahead of my next pick. Is that OK?
It has been proven over and over that I need to document very specifically what is allowed. In the instances when I don't someone invariably makes a stink about a perceived lack of clarity, so then I need to do something to fix it. That is my second least favorite part of running a draft.
Then there is the opportunity for conflict. Someone posts who they want and an alternate. Someone else then trades up to the pick ahead of them and takes the first choice. Now I have to tell the guy who posted, oh well, you lose (which is exactly what I would do). There are some folks that will complain that this just isn't fair to them. Clearly they are wrong, but they still feel cheated. I have zero interest in dealing with hurt feelings (my least favorite thing) when it could be avoided by just not allowing this method of drafting to become normal.
I'll allow this one, but please don't use this as the default way to post a pick. Proxies are available from many people, you just need to ask.
