I tried my best to document it many drafts ago. From Page 1:

NOTE: The Ohanti exception - For players that have ratings as both a pitcher and a hitter in a single season, the pitcher and the hitter will each require a separate pick. This means that you will need to declare if the pick is for a hitter or a pitcher in a season which has both. If no declaration is made with the pick, it will be defaulted to be a pitcher. As it relates to the No Clones rule, the hitter and the pitcher will not be considered to be a clone, so both will be allowed on the same team.

So no, you cannot draft Ruth as a pitcher because he in every season he is only either a hitter or a pitcher. Ohtani is both a pitcher and a hitter in the same season. You cannot fill two slots in your roster with one draft pick, but he can be drafted separately as both a hitter and a pitcher.

Rather than answering this question again in the future, for the next DEAL draft I think I'm going to simplify it and just allow one instance of Ohtani, just like every other player.

I know that would be me IF allowed this year I simply wanted to check to make sure of the ruling. I believe there have been other players that have been hitters and pitchers although not in the same year. Like Joe Wood 3b cleve and of course Pitch Boston and I think Rick Ankiel did both also. It is your draft and you do a FANTASTIC job of running it, I don't mean NO DISRESPECT, but a player is a player. I was going to wait till later to make my discission. It doesn't matter because I think I have done another crappy job of drafting. Anyway, thank you for letting me know now rather than later so I can continue with knowing NOW he will be a HITTER. I just love to participate in Draft themes so thank you for running one kelly1.
