So moving up in the world for the first time thought i would try out DII and see what the game is like. Seems that recruiting at DII is different than DIII. I know there is alot of info out there but have not seen anything that states any difference between DIII, DII or DI, or am I missing something?

You get more money per recruit as you move up in divisions. That is the main difference. You might see a difference in recruits that are undecided as opposed to having SIMS on them at the beginning of recruiting as well. Other than that, the strategies and such are pretty much the same to me.

Ironically, recruiting is my favorite aspect of the game. It's not a perfect system, but it's all about perspective and the "Haves and Have-nots". Eventually, once you hit D1, choose your conference wisely. There's a built-in recruiting advantage/bias "Power Conferences" vs "Non - Power conferences". The little guys will lose most battles against the bigger guys. I tried to beat the system for almost two years, and I succeeded, but not in the way I was looking for. Eventually, I switched conferences; better competition and recruiting are night and day.

do people actually use the "booster gifts" at D1? What is the possible punishment?

I've been told chances of getting caught increase with value of booster gift. And if caught, punishment get more painful the move valuable the booster gift. In almost every case the coach's rep falls to F - means several seasons of **** poor recruiting before any decent recruit will consider you. I'm sure there are more punishment items but can't recall any.

i tried gifting for maybe ten seasons

not once was a gift accepted

the penalties ran from pablum to pariah

unless the sim has changed, do not do it
