Why Discord? Should be here.
Excellent question, and, yes, fixing the forums should be a higher priority than shifting focus and discussions off site.

Their use of discord is why I've stopped playing hbd. It's ridiculous that they aren't having discussions where all the customers are.
Agreed that it is ridiculous.

Exactly. *lol*

Moving discussions to an outside site sends an unintended message that I don't think management considered. If they see the forums on their own site as too difficult to fix and improve, then it's reasonable to assume they are equally confounded by what needs to be done to fix and improve the actual games. Or, another way to look at it is this: If management wants me to go off site to find a different/better way to discuss this game, then it's not unreasonable to think management wants me to go off site to find a different/better game to play.

Fix injuries next. It's ruining the game. It seems more and more players have a low health rating to start out, injuries seem to happen more often, destroys player ratings with no way for an owner to compensate for injuries. It's really taking the fun out of building a franchise.
In my private world, you never get any injury recovery. If a player gets injured, what he drops to is his final number until the in-season bumps take happen again. That most definitely needs to be fixed. Everybody recovers from an injury, why not in WIS?

Discord and the forums can work together. I see too many comments here about Discord that make me think of "The Simpsons" meme of grandpa yelling at the clouds on this issue. A lot of real-time (instant feedback) on questions that can't happen here (because forum style is more old school) and more in-depth conversations because of that. And in case you think I am some young gamer guy just advocating for Discord, I am not young (not even close) nor a true gamer guy. I use Discord for a job and it is very well organized and easy to use.

FYI, injury recovery has been a huge topic on Discord (as it has been in the forums) with some solutions seriously being considered.

That's fantastic for the supposed 50% of people there...in the meantime the other 50% sit here seeing nothing happening. I have played hbd since the beginning under a different username and have 16 seasons purchased and I STILL stopped playing the game. The number of people losing interest is high enough that discarding 50% of them is a horrible business decision.

I think there's value in both. Hopefully there's a way to maintain the institutional knowledge of the game captured here while facilitating real-time conversations and community with owners and product leadership in an active channel. The better the integration, the better chance of avoiding the appearance of lack of activity with some conversations now being carried out in Discord. Current game comms are antiquated, so there's lots of room for improvement overall.

I despised Discord and dropped it. Lots of opinions, no fixes. A waste of time. Ol' WISBob is trying to fool somebody. Hopefully he doesn't think just because we play a broken game, we're stupid. I commented once that HBD was dying on the vine and he countered that over 90% of the worlds were full. Ignoring the fact that they had eliminated, what 20? 30? more than 30? worlds. They are unable to bring in new users. They have counted on people to maintain multiple teams to keep worlds afloat. HBD was a great idea, and it was fun, but it was ignored and run into the ground. It will take a very long time to fix all that is broken between WIS and the current players, get new players, and fix the programming. I believe he is a lawyer ( not 100% positive about that) but he will need deep pockets to keep it around long enough to see growth in HBD again.

There are just over 500 members of the HBD Discord, which would seem to be a majority of owners. No clue as to how many actual people player HBD, but with the number of worlds and the number of owners who have multiple teams, more than 50% of HBD owners feels correct. This is not dismissing the forums, but you get better real-time discussion there and info you might want to look up is organized and easier to search. It is pretty simple to use, too.
There are around 1450 active HBD owners last time I checked earlier in the year, FWIW.

I'd argue that injury recovery is broken, but the rest of the game is still very good, but old. Hopefully they can make some updates and some interface upgrades, but to call it a broken game, overall, I think thats a little too much.

Injuries are part of real life MLB and therefore have to be part of this game if it is to mirror realistically.

Take a look at the Astros this season. Ace SP, closer, and 6 position starters (3B, C, SS, 2B, LF and CF) are all either on the IL, have spent time on the IL or are now out for season. Other SPs and bench players have been or are currently on the IL as well. No HBD team has ever come close to this many injuries.

There is a minor tweaks to injuries they should do. No player should recover above a 100 rating, which I recently saw again.

Overall, injuries in HBD mirror real life MLB fairly well. If you don't like that, then maybe this isn't a good game for you.
I don't disagree here...my caveat would be some guys with good makeup and injury ratings get hurt and it's a minor injury (15-day DL trip) and then they don't recover. Yet if I toss a guy on the 60-day, he likely will recover and maybe even improve. I would think a lingering injury (where you don't recover a lost rating point) would be better suited to a more catastrophic injury...I do think the recovery system is a bit broken, but I have zero problems with injury in general.
