I hate that I’m always complaining lately. But the post about the injury fixes kinda scares me:

To recap, injury recovery has had the following flaws:
  1. Players suffering injuries in the postseason would not see any recovery until season rollover even if it was a short-term injury (i.e. 10 days)
  2. Players who suffered very short injuries could be moved to the Injured List and receive one or more unexpected recovery cycles
  3. Players suffering injuries near the end of the regular season were receiving premature recovery cycles at season end
  4. Players on the injured list would receive multiple recovery cycles using incorrect data that would lead to players improving beyond not only their pre-injury ratings but sometimes beyond their projected ratings.
The improved injury logic works like this:
  1. Player suffers an injury with length of injury determining whether a "Time of Injury" ratings hit takes place
  2. If an injured player who incurred a "Time of Injury" ratings hit is on the IL, the player will see a single "Time of Return" ratings adjustment just prior to becoming healthy.
    1. The amount of lost ratings recovered is based on player's makeup rating and franchise's medical budget
    2. The player's ratings will never increase beyond the ratings prior to the injury
  3. If an injured player on the IL is scheduled to heal during the season rollover timeframe, the player will see the "Time of Return" adjustment during rollover.
  4. If an injured player has a very long injury where he isn't scheduled to heal until the next season, he must be placed on the IL at the start of the season and will see his "Time of Return" development cycle just prior to becoming healthy.

I always thought the only problem with injuries was how easy it was for a player to get a catastrophic long term injury that they never recover from. And it doesn’t sound like this changes that!

I didn’t think it was bad that players would recover beyond their original ratings or that a guy injured in game 156 would get a recover bump in game 161.

And I like that you get an exact number of days when the guy will return. Who gives a crap if it’s like real life? It makes this game much easier and more fun when I know exactly when my ace pitcher or starting shortstop will be back.

Another thing: was anyone actually asking for WIS to fix the “bug” that let you stick a guy on the DL and make him better? I thought people loved that. It’s the reason I always made sure to spend $20 on medical.

So nothing to address the highly rated players with catastrophic injuries, I don't see how this is good

With the focus appearing to be making this game more like real-life baseball, they took away a players ability to train hard and comeback stronger and better from before the injury. So if we are trying to make this RLHBD (real-life hardball dynasty) then why can’t a player be better than pre- injury or pre-projections? This was a non-fix in my opinion.

On the long term injuries that span a season, and the fact you have to re-add them to the IR at the beginning of the next season…
‘Does the 10 day vs the 60 day IL matter to how big their recovery is?

if they had a 200 day injury last year but only have ten days left, do you still have to add them to the 60 to get the full recovery bump?

Think https://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerRatings.aspx?pid=13385335 will be a good test case. Was 97 health pre injury, team had $20M medical and training budget. 200 day injury that will span a season. Had 8 pt overall ratings drop.

I know many owners were up in arms about the "injury bug," but I wasn't one of them. I thought the old system was okay; no complaints. People complain about the number of injuries, but it's seldom pointed out that we only get a fraction of the number of injuries that real MLB teams get. For example, the team I root for, the SF Giants, currently have 16 players on the 60-day DL! Can you imagine if WIS tried to emulate that in HBD?

Anyway, the new system seems fair and all, but I don't think it was necessary.

The problem with injuries isn't whether it shows us injuries in days or months. The problem with injuries is that guys never fully heal or even partially heal. Lose 6 points overall and you might get one back. That is ridiculous. And the other thing is the system seems to frequently injure your best players and your best prospects disproportionally while rarely injuring players that will never make to major league team. In every league i have, my top prospect for that team is injured long term. Most 100 plus days.. What are the odds of that. Why don't you fix that...........................................

If the new regime is so focused on making the game “realistic”, what comes next? Players getting arrested for DUIs and domestic violence? Maybe we should be forced to watch a bunch of ads for beer and gambling companies before we pull up our box scores. And if they really want to be like real life, some of the players should probably die once in a while. Injury cycles can’t fix that one.

i don't think it's cool that the injury thing changed without notice or discussion. i don't think it was mentioned as happening in the near future either with the last update. I wouldn't have put two guys on the 60 day if they weren't going to get two bumps. So now they won't even get one bump since the update prevents increase over where they were at, and they will just sit there for longer than needed. That wouldn't have happened with proper notice or with change of season.

Also, I think the salary cap/budget should be raised accordingly with making 26 man bl rosters. That roster addition was about players making more money, so the budget total should go up at least a million.

Another thing that is not helpful in the change is this vague 6 to 10 weeks type injury notice. Well that certainly hurts your longterm planning not only in terms of not knowing if you will get him in time for a certain series but also who you might bring up to fill the spot due to playing time or position needs. There are all sorts of variables that the vagueness just makes worse.
