Another outstanding coach has stepped away from the game (Bryant World), for how long nobody knows. It seems like every season the coaching pool dwindles like an isolated pond, baking in the midsummer sun. Is this something to be alarmed about or ponder? Is the game GD fading away like the nation after 250 years or will there be a revitalization and massive update in the near future? This my internet friends is the hope some of us are riding out.

I wish I could lol but this has been my daily time kill / hobby for almost 15 years.

I'm thinking I may be among the next to leave the game. I know this will sound whiny to some, but the frustrations with the game are just outweighing the enjoyment of it. One of my biggest pet peeves: spending nearly $5,000 to recruit an in-state DIII player, offering freshman PT and a sophomore start, only to lose him to a SIM AI school. Over the years, this has happened more times than I care to count. Throw in the many times one of the perennial powerhouse teams comes in and either bumps me off a recruit or forces me to overspend wildly to get him, and the talent gap between us becomes virtually impossible to close. Over it.

It is hard to walk away, isn't it? I had one foot out the door, but I was hesitant to leave the program in the state it's in, with three horrible AI recruits on the roster who need to be cut. I also discovered some credit on my account, so I'm back for one more (discounted) season. But the talent gap (in coaching as well as players) is real, and quite predictable. At halftime of my latest lopsided, second-round playoff loss, I examined the boxscore and predicted a 56-10 defeat. I lost 56-14. The outcome of games like these is almost never in doubt.

I noticed that tiltwar, who conducted a long-term experiment with not recruiting a QB and using nothing but run plays out of the wishbone for several seasons, has abandoned GD entirely. He has not posted on the forums in more than a year.
