Petco is definitely the most pitcher-friendly park in the sim despite the positive triples rating
But that triples rating is one of the keys to scoring runs there. 21st century hitters who got a lot of triples will excel there, as they normalize very well (it's the opposite of 21st century home run hitters, since triples rates are at all-time lows right now). Jose Reyes, Carl Crawford, etc. There are a lot of great options at low caps as well if you search 3B#.
Speed is also very important, although that is always important it's more so when you will have fewer baserunners. OBP is also always important but don't have too many high OBP, low SLG slow guys or you'll just leave a lot of runners on base. Stolen bases are a bit overrated I think, they help but can be neutralized by opposing catchers and the really high SB guys tend to be overpriced.
Range is less important than at other parks because there will be fewer hits to take away, it is most important at parks like Municipal or Palace of the Fans when there will be lots of non-HR hits that your great range players can turn into outs. It is still relevant though and you don't want to draft a bunch of D- range guys (never do that at any park!)
The main thing for your pitchers is you can draft fewer innings than you would otherwise. All pitchers will see their numbers improve there so you can get more from each pitcher. I would just avoid paying a premium for low HR/9 as that is already being reduced by the stadium so you will have diminishing returns.
I did end up taking your advice and getting at least a few triples hitters, picked up Crawford. He's the perfect player, speed, defense and triples to fit the mold.
The one part of the game I dislike is if I'm a very low scoring team, is if my steal settings are on 5 against a very strong armed catcher, there are times where he still won't steal. Ugh. I'd rather take my chance of stealing 2nd, even if it's just 60/40 success rate. A lot better than relying someone with a 35% OB% guy to get him over to 2nd and especially if I'm trying to eek out a 2-1 victory.
