“Good” Team Redistribution Draft w/Twist
$110 Million Salary Cap
1920-2016 Seasons Only
This will be a 24-team league, with two separate drafting groups of 12 owners each – one group using only American Leaguers and one group using only National leaguers. Only if the league doesn’t fill will I allow an owner to have a team in each group. For purposes of determining AL or NL (i.e., Astros, Brewers), it’s the league in which your selected team played in at that time.
The following rules references the N.L. drafting group, but the same rules apply to A.L. drafting group.
Upon signing up, each owner must immediately choose a "good" single-season National League team (“good” = a team with .550 real life win%). Signing up with the stipulation “In - Team TBD” is not allowed. You will not be considered signed up until you've posted the team you want. Order of sign-up is important. Sign-ups will continue until we have 12 owners signed up with 12 unique N.L. single-season teams selected (duplicate franchises are allowed). Once the twelfth and final owner joins and selects his team, we go in reverse order of sign-up to select a second N.L. team (.550+ win%). This continues until each owner has selected two N.L. teams. The owner will then privately disclose to me (via site-mail) which player (from each team) they want to keep. You must select exactly one hitter and one pitcher (these two players cannot be twisted).
Once all the keepers have been site-mailed to me, there will be a 22-round draft, where each of the 12 owners will select exactly one player from each of the other 22 teams. The draft order will be based on total cumulative salary of players selected (lowest salary drafts first). Obviously, once a player has been drafted, he is off the board. When drafting, please specify the team, player and salary.
The initial player selection and subsequent draft will populate 24 spots on your 25-man roster. What about the 25th roster spot? This is where you should put some thought into your initial team selection. At the end of round 10, you will be able to add any undrafted player from either of your nominated team's roster AND you can "twist" that player to any season you want. That player will now be off the board for the remaining 12 rounds. Only sim-eligible players can be drafted/twisted.
One more Twist Rule. Of the 22 players you drafted from the other 22 teams, you are allowed to twist up to three of these players to any season you want. You do not have to announce which players will be twisted and their original salary will be used for purposes of determining draft order each successive round. So in all, at least 21 of your 25 players will be actual drafted seasons and (up to) 4 of your players will be twisted to a different season. You are allowed to twist any of those 4 players to the opposite league. You are not allowed to twist a player to a year prior to 1920. Also, you are not allowed to twist a player to the same team/season as one of the 24 single season teams selected. You are allowed to twist a player that appeared on a blacklisted team (see below for blacklisted teams).
Also note
* Rule for players who played on multiple teams: Either the partial (nominated team only) or combined version may be drafted, but not both. So once a player is drafted off a team, all versions of that player are off the board. (For example, if the 1984 Cubs were nominated, somebody drafts the Cubs-only version of Sutcliffe, the combined version of Sutcliffe is off the board. The Cleveland-only version of Sutcliffe is never eligible in this scenario). The version (partial or combined) that you draft is the one you must roster. If you roster the other version, it counts as one of your twists.
