In this league, you will have control over half your roster - the rest is up to chance (and your fellow owners).

The league will feature a 12-round draft. In each round, you will draft one player. Season need not be specified. However, each round, you will also be allocated a player based on the person picking before you. For example, if the first person to draft selects Babe Ruth, the person drafting after them must also have Babe Ruth on their roster. If the person with the 2nd pick then drafts Ted Williams, the person drafting 3rd will also get Ted Williams. And so on. The selection of the final owner in each round will be allocated to whoever had the first pick.

The draft order will be randomized each round so that owners are not always being impacted by the same owner's picks, and thus creating a lot of overlap between rosters of a couple owners.

CLARIFICATION:

There will be a pre-determined table created for the draft order that distributes picks as evenly as possible throughout the draft. Each spot on the table will be represented by a letter. I will then have someone outside the league randomly assign each letter to an owner. So the draft order itself will not be random, but where each owner falls in the table will be completely random.

So in short...you will draft 12 players, and have 12 players "assigned" to you based on who is selecting before you each round. You must roster these 24 players - seasons are up to you. The 25th pick can be anyone you choose, as long as they were not drafted.

Seasons are not exclusive. If you end up using the same one, that's fine.

hope I understand the rules but it sounds like fun. So per your example you show above if you are picking 3rd you will get Ruth and Ted Williams (which seasons is your choice, optional) then you pick your player (say Maury Wills). Then the following owner will all three of those players? I want in but am a bit confused? In other words you will get all 24 of the owners picks but you chose the yr?

No. You get your pick and the pick of the owner ahead of you each round. So let's say the first 4 picks are Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Cy Young and Ty Cobb.

Owner A - Babe Ruth (second player to be determined by pick of last owner in the round)
Owner B - Babe Ruth and Ted Williams
Owner C - Ted Williams and Cy Young
Owner D - Cy Young and Ty Cobb
Etc.

I'm uncomfortable with the draft order being "randomized" each round. That sets up a big luck component. Frankly, first-round draft order is already going to play a bigger role than usual since guys from 2 on down effectively get 2 early first-round draft picks. But then those same guys could get early picks in round 3? Or does "randomized each round" actually mean algorithmically determined but with changing nearest-neighbors?

I think I would like to join, but the strategy to use alludes me. Do you:

1. Just pick a good player, even though your giving him to someone else.
2. Pick a really bad player to stick it to someone else.
3. Pick someone really expensive, to burn others cap money. ( I found a pitcher with 4 seasons from 9-30 Mil and that’s it.
4. Something different?
