Kenesaw Mountain Landis is going into its 23rd season of existence. We have had a strong core of owners for awhile now, and we are looking for a couple to keep us going for next season and beyond! Openings are below with last year's team information. You can choose any city you want when you replace them.
Over half of KML's owners have been around for at least 10 seasons, and 2/3 have been around for at least 5 seasons. Since I've taken over as commissioner, our wait times between seasons have been minimal. So you can count on a great group of owners and not having to wait months between seasons if you join us!
We have one opening left, a promising rebuild that has already been going on for a couple seasons now. We also have a 3-year, 180 win MWR (cannot have fewer than 55 wins in consecutive seasons) to help avoid ultra tanking.
Current Openings:
NL West
Cheyenne (66-96)
The Cheyenne owner was in the process of starting a rebuild before deciding to cut down on the number of teams he wanted to run. As a result, the next owner gets to take over the rebuild with some pieces already in place. Cheyenne had four top-30 picks in last year's draft including Horace O'Connor (16th), Mike Pederson (21st), Erv Mitchell (27th), and Yasmani Guillen (30th). Also in their minors includes last year's 10th overall lefty pitcher Miguel Sanchez and Season 20 18th overall pick Leyson Lee. They also signed their first IFA in four seasons, paying $17M for Luis Francisco. With only about $34M in contracts ML players committed to next season, this is a great spot for someone to step in and take the next step in this rebuild. They also should have the 6th pick in the Season 23 draft which should further help increase their future talent pool.
NL East
Scranton (82-80)
Scranton has been trending upwards in recent years but hasn't quite been able to get over the hump yet having finished 162-162 over their last two seasons combined. They have been building a prospect pool to help them towards the future and some of their recent picks include speedy defender
Denny Wagner, the power hitting good defender
Marvin Hall, another defensive prospect with a good eye in
Heath DeHart, and solid defensive catcher
Ezequiel Fuentes. They have about $45M in contracts for next season including solid OFs
Fautino Diaz and
Dewayne Spivey, but they also have some young players still in arbitration such as IFs
Tony Guillon and
Lewis Harper as well as excellent closer
Jarrett Maysonet. There's some talent to get to the next level, but smart drafting and/or free agency will be needed.
AL South
Jacksonville (74-58)
Jacksonville was a team on the rise until this season when their owner unfortunately disappeared across all of his worlds. He had been the owner for 14 seasons, so he had things in good shape. In the majors, they have a good mix of talent between younger players such as Edinson Padilla and Colt Milone as well as solid vets such as Eugene Hurst and Marcos Briceno. In the minors, they have some promising prospects such as Season 18 1st rounder Evan Roenicke, Season 20 1st rounder Rich Underwood, Season 21 1st rounder Farmer Pittinger and 2nd rounder Yadiel Bogaerts, and Season 22 IFA Pedro Cortez. They should have about the 12th pick in the Season 23 draft, and they may have a second 1st rounder which I will confirm after we rollover for not signing their 1st this year. They have just $23M in contracts for next season, although some of their talented younger players will be hitting arbitration. Either way, there is plenty of money for the next owner to decide to go for a win-now approach or to build for the future.
