This is on me and only me, and I am speaking only for myself. What I've realized and what has bitten me in the butt, is complacency. I was to narrow minded, in a limited growth, and semi-uncomfortable situation with my last team "Navy". I was stuck in a battle I couldn't really progress in, and it limited my skills, and coaching growth. What others call "stagnation". What I mean by this is, my development of play books and strategy. Those tools were limited by roster talent and team "prestige engine" and instead of learning to outcoach humans, I tried to outsmart a hard coded-wired system. The results were my interest in the game, the stagnation of not progressing were taking a toll on my continuing playing the game. What changed?
I switched teams "Baylor" and conferences, and it doesn't matter on "Brand Name", but what does matter are the tools and the new joy of learning and having fun!! My playbooks don't match up with the roster, the team doesn't have the right players for my system, my team is losing but staying competitive and this is great and I am getting the joy of building a team with a new identity and against already great competition. The stats are on point and match up, but the players are young and its only year one, making mistakes. How can this translate to life and coaching philosophies can be determined by the quality of competition and patterns.
I notice a lot of the really SOLID coaches in this "SIM" universe are very well diverse with their schemes and quick roster turnarounds. What they have in common is, they don't stay to long with one team, regardless of if it's a true contender. For some reason or another they bounce onto the next team or project. They win wherever they go. They make deep runs in the playoffs, and most have at least one NC, or many CC. They don't get too comfortable and have no emotional attachment to any particular entity, except for winning or progression. Maybe this is how they subconsciously behave in life or actively behave or are just learned patterns and behavior translating into a game.
Anyways I wanted to share something new in the dry atmosphere of a forum
