Waiting for one previous owner to return today. If not, there will be one opening.
We have one confirmed opening next season in Moneyball. Universal DH next season.
We may have an opening the Seattle Hedgehogs in the AL North. Likely has the 14th pick next season.
We also have the El Paso team in the AL South. They will have the 13th pick in the draft.
We have the Durham team in the NL South. They will have the #1 pick in the draft.
World Rules:
1. The one season MWR is 55 wins or a .400 expected win percentage. The two season MWR is 120 wins or a two season .400 expected win percentage (Runs scored over two seasons ^1.81)/[(Runs Scored over two seasons^1.81) + (Runs Allowed over two seasons^1.81)]
New owners are exempt from MWR their first season. Owners that come halfway through a season are exempt from MWR for the remaining of the season and the following season.
An Owner that does not meet the MWR will forfeit their team or have a noted violation with an attached penalty. When a team has a noted violation similar to a limited draft pick, the team owner is not allowed to turn his limited draft pick into a comp D pick by purposely drafting a player with poor signability traits. The World sees this as a manipulative practice designed to circumvent the rules. An Owner that attempts this will be kicked out of the World. In season 46, user bigmattr tried this and was kicked out. Don't be that guy. Finally, the spirit of the MWR is to prevent franchises from competing to be the worst team to get the best pick. The World will be more lenient towards franchises that are not obviously tanking. "Obviously tanking" is usually defined by a franchise that has a low win total and a low payroll. Other things tankers do is play players out of position (i.e. COF/1b/C/DH type players playing 500+ innings at SS, CF or 2b). Some tankers will have pitchers with below 50 R split ratings or below 30 control pitching 50+ IP. These pitchers should never be in the mlb. If they are, it is a dead give away that you either don't understand the game or you're obviously tanking.
2. Minor league rosters are to be maintained. The expectation is to have rosters that are rested within reason. Position players are expected to play a position that relates to their abilities within reason. Examples of rosters not being maintained: A DH playing SS, a SP with 0 rest starting a game. Tlowster is the current Commissioner. He is not going to die on a hill over the enforcement of this rule. There are obvious benefits to effectively running your minor league squads. If you don't want to put in the work to reap those benefits, I'm not going to punish you for it. While I feel the rule is still important for MiL competitive balance, there are no formal punishments.
3. Player(s) to be named later are not allowed in trades.
4. The world chat is to be used for positive discussion and debate that move the league forward.
5. If the commissioner perceives the name of a team "not in the best interest of the league" the owner must change the name appropriately.
6. If you forget to protect your players from the Rule 5 draft, that is a YOU problem. Every franchise receives two notifications into their inbox that provide a reminder to protect your players. Please do not make YOUR Rule 5 protection mishaps a World problem. If you forget to protect your players from Rule 5 and you can work out a deal with the franchise that drafted your players, do that privately via trade chat. Anyone who fails to protect their players from Rule 5 and then asks for lienancy on World Chat will receive an immediate warning from the commissioner. The only exception to this is if the user has under 5 seasons of hbd experience.
7. If you have someone in your household or a friend whom you live near playing in this world,
it must be disclosed immediately when that person joins this world. If later it is found out that this situation exists, the owners will both be removed from the world immediately.
8. If you decide to leave the world during the season, you will let the commissioner know and the commissioner will find a replacement for you. If you have yourself replaced, the new owner agrees that they may be replaced with a new owner that the commissioner chooses.
9. The Fair Play Guidelines will be enforced. For more information, https://www.whatifsports.com/locker/fairplay.shtm. From a fairplay guidelines perspective, the World puts a special emphasis on avoiding lopsided trades and comp pick collusion. If you engage in this type of behavior, prepare to be kicked out of the league. Regarding comp pick collusion, it is not collusion to write a gentile reminder that a comp pick player is still a free agent. However, it is collusion if you participate in a quid pro quo (i.e. agree to sign a comp pick free agent in exchange for a trade, etc.).
10. A committee of owners will review the Hall of Fame ballot and recommend a group of players for everyone to vote for the Hall of Fame. By playing in this world, you agree to vote on the players that the committee selects. There may be additional votes that you can cast each season for whomever you like. Committee consists of rjohnston, thuggis and dw172300.
