I hate that I’m always complaining lately. But the post about the injury fixes kinda scares me:
To recap, injury recovery has had the following flaws:
- Players suffering injuries in the postseason would not see any recovery until season rollover even if it was a short-term injury (i.e. 10 days)
- Players who suffered very short injuries could be moved to the Injured List and receive one or more unexpected recovery cycles
- Players suffering injuries near the end of the regular season were receiving premature recovery cycles at season end
- Players on the injured list would receive multiple recovery cycles using incorrect data that would lead to players improving beyond not only their pre-injury ratings but sometimes beyond their projected ratings.
The improved injury logic works like this:
- Player suffers an injury with length of injury determining whether a "Time of Injury" ratings hit takes place
- If an injured player who incurred a "Time of Injury" ratings hit is on the IL, the player will see a single "Time of Return" ratings adjustment just prior to becoming healthy.
- The amount of lost ratings recovered is based on player's makeup rating and franchise's medical budget
- The player's ratings will never increase beyond the ratings prior to the injury
- If an injured player on the IL is scheduled to heal during the season rollover timeframe, the player will see the "Time of Return" adjustment during rollover.
- If an injured player has a very long injury where he isn't scheduled to heal until the next season, he must be placed on the IL at the start of the season and will see his "Time of Return" development cycle just prior to becoming healthy.
I always thought the only problem with injuries was how easy it was for a player to get a catastrophic long term injury that they never recover from. And it doesn’t sound like this changes that!
I didn’t think it was bad that players would recover beyond their original ratings or that a guy injured in game 156 would get a recover bump in game 161.
And I like that you get an exact number of days when the guy will return. Who gives a crap if it’s like real life? It makes this game much easier and more fun when I know exactly when my ace pitcher or starting shortstop will be back.
