It's Draft Tournament time!
Unlike some of the other multi-round tournaments that I've run recently, this tournament will be just one round. There will be SIX 24-team leagues played simultaneously. Each of the 24 owners who sign up will each be playing SIX teams, one in each league. There will be one *fast* draft, with 18 rounds being drafted over SIX days. The 10-minute time slots will run from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm EST (so that's 3 rounds per day).
Draft Details
Rounds 1 thru 12 will be 1 player per pick (12 players).
Rounds 13-17 will be 2 players per pick (10 players).
Round 18 will be 3 players per pick (3 players).
12 + 10 + 3 = 25 players
In order to offset the advantage of picking early in round 1, this draft will use a third round reversal. So the draft will go 1-24, 24-1, 24-1, 1-24, 24-1, 1-24, etc. The draft order will be determined randomly and so you will know your draft times for each of the six days in advance.
For a player to be eligible to be drafted, he must have six unique seasons in the sim. The reason is that you will construct your six rosters with the 25 players you drafted, but you must use a different season of your drafted players in each of the six different leagues. (A partial/combined season counts as the same season - you can use only one partial or one combined season for your player).
Deadball Pitching Rule
All seasons are eligible to be drafted BUT in order to keep HR hitters viable, you can roster a maximum of 500 innings from deadball pitchers (per team). For purposes of this league, deadball pitchers are 1885 thru 1919. So if you draft Walter Johnson, I would highly advise against also drafting Ed Cicotte since you wouldn't be able to roster the best seasons of both pitchers on the same team. Obviously, those 1880's and 1890's pitchers with a bunch of seasons with 500+ innings aren't really draftable in this format.
Other Details
Salary Cap: None
Eligible Seasons: All
DH = Yes
WW = No
AAA = No
Trades = No (if you want to trade full draft positions before the draft begins, that is fine)
Injuries = Off
Alignment: Based on salary (highest salary in NL East)
Ballpark: Any ballpark (can be the same park or different parks across your six teams)
During the draft, you do not have to decide which six seasons of the player to use. You can figure out that later. You can choose to balance your teams equally or make one or two super teams at the expense of your other four teams. It's totally up to you. And there is no rule on which teams go in which leagues. Keep in mind that the division alignment is based on salary, so if eight people make a super team, they might all end up in the same divisions.
Prizes
I will ask admin to donate $60 of prize money, which will be split $40 to the owner with the most overall regular season wins and $20 to the World Series winning team with the best overall record.
If drafting 3 rounds per day will be a problem for you, please do not sign up.
