They can, yes. But they have to then stay on the ML roster of the team that trades for them until the end of the season, or else be offered back to the original club from which they were R5 drafted. (...

A Rule 5 Offer Back gives the original team a chance to accept him as a return by sending back half the money the other club paid to take him.
