Mainly my point was that Samuel Redmond (RF) is having a very average season and is listed as nd in the MVP race.

If you don't really put any credence into the order in which the candidates are listed, then my question is still, why does he appear at all? I hear you about defense, but 1B?

If this is what you're asking - Ian Saltalamacchia (RF) is playing in the outfield and he is closer to the average fielding reqs for RF'ers and should get an average # of plus plays.

Samuel Redmond (RF) is playing B and is way above the average fielding reqs for B so he should get a bunch of + plays.

I agree with opie5. Defensive stats are given significant consideration.

Ian Saltalamacchia (RF) is a much better fielder, yet he has less plus plays. Is simi being a dork or is this due to ballpark? What gives?

Defensive stats - 11 plus plays vs zero plus plays.

Can anyone explain to me why this guy Samuel Redmond (RF) is an MVP candidate and this guy Archie Hamilton (LF) is not?

The Mets don't have a hope for the playoffs, so any player over is tradable. And Paul Gang (LF). Paul is eminently tradable.

I'm predicting a lame trade deadline :-)
