Speed and Rebounding Topic

How beneficial do you think speed is to rebounding? Assuming two players were equal in all categories except speed and rebounding, which would be a better rebounder?

Speed Rebounding

20 80

40 70

70 60

The first one would be the best.

I've always wondered. I looked for double double guys like 6 months ago and was amazed what crappy sim guys averaged 10+ rebounds. Of course part of it is a function of playing for a crappy sim team, so lots of misses, but I've always wondered how exactly you get a guy to double double for a career.

I think Off/Def set has to play a part, I don't know I've ever seen a freshman average 10 rebounds, but who knows, maybe speed plays some fractional role, esp at the 4? I can tell you player A in that list should have the most rebounds for a season based on what I know about the sim, but who knows, maybe player C in a FB/FCP wins?

In a developer chat, they said rebounding is a function of REB, ATH, IQ, settings, defense and fatigue only.

agreed, speed is not a factor in rebounding.

guyo, to get double doubles, you basically need a ****** reb team except for 1 starter who is relatively way better. the losing team will get beaten on the boards badly, but will still get a good # of rebounds especially on defense where they have a major advantage. many of those will go to the best - but still not as good as top players on other teams - rebounder. that dude will have many more rpg than the best rebounding talent in the country, in most cases, because the best rebounding talent is usually on a good team with many players who get good rpg figures.

Thanks for the help. So, to change the question then, supposing I replace the word "Speed" in my original question with "Ath", which would be a better rebounder?

Ath / Reb

20 80

40 70

70 60

If all other things are equal? My personal guess would be the 70-60 guy.

On press, I guess you get the speedy guy and sacrifice a bit of rebounding right? And we don't have athleticism in this equation, it could mean one of them is clearly the best one.

The 70/60 is definitely the better player and probably the better rebounder. I consider rebounding about twice as important as ATH in that particular equation.

With that being said, the 40/70 and the 20/80 guy will probably be cheaper to recruit. A lot of times if I am really just looking for a defensive/rebounding type post player, I'll try to grap a low ATH (30-40) high rebound (80+) with high def or block/def average because they tend to be under recruited.

A bit away from core question, but that higher ATH will help in a bunch of other areas also. I'd take 70-60

Gah, position. It always amazes me how I think I have an inkling on things, scour these boards every day, then someone links to an ancient (6 years old, we'll go with ancient) thread and it is full of gold still applicable today.

Why am I *not* always playing my best rebounder at the 5? Thanks, now another month will be spent on figuring out that different lol

ETA: It's a hack, but I think I have to try the "one good rebounder, 4 miserable rebounders" theory. See how that plays out over 4 seasons. In theory I have a FB/FCP D3 team to try it out on, but I think it's probably best done not in those sets. Hmmm. Another team? ugh.

Yeah I still remember my first life/real world mentor advice! On my first job still had some valuable advice from her that I took from her and that was don't complain and shutup! We haven't talked since 2010 and my first job was in 2015. She taught me how life was a gift etc and how music was a gift as well. Some people got it some don't. Rap started in arab not over here and that is a little information the feds don't want you to know. Also if you can rap you can speak Arabic. O and one more thing she still has my funniest text to this day "Can you imagine your math teacher with a gun?"- MIA I was in school and bursted out laughing.

better rebounder, its about a wash between the 40-70 and 70-60. i figure reb to be about 2.5-3x on ath, in the reb equation, so probably the 70/60 guy by a hair.

edit: my mental math was wrong (thanks OD). the 20-80 guy is either the best or tied with the 70/60 guy as the best.

When you say 2.5-3x athleticism, what do you mean? 2.5 times what?
