The team is already at an A+ prestige, so there is absolutely no benefit to them getting drafted.

I know it was a bit of a down year compared to prior years but hey, every program needs to rebuild at some point. Both James Taylor and myself know that you are the right person for this program and we're still behind you!

#7 SG, #23 Overall, *****; no promises. John Childs is very good prospect. I expect that the only areas in which he might be limited would be defense and FT shooting, and neither will be bad. I think he looks like a fairly probable NBA player
Childs is leaving us early, which sucks, because we were pretty short manned this year and would've had the chance to rectify that next season. He was the team's primary scorer this season and will be deeply missed.

In reality, he never should have declared early for that kind of draft position (I suppose it may happen on occasion, anyways, for personal reasons). It's just a shame that this is such a regular occurrence in HD.

#6 PF, #10 Overall, *****; guaranteed 10 minutes. I'll probably get used to writing that name after a while, but Edwin Skrzypinski, Mr. Michigan, is the star of the class. He has no areas of weakness - bottoming out at mediocrity in a few parts. He should be good on offense, defense, and rebounding, and not awful at FT shooting and passing. Really, a very nice prospect. If he doesn't make the pros, I'll be quite surprised.
I never did get used to typing his name. Anyways, this guy will be very missed, too. We are losing our two best players, by far. He wasn't as productive as he could've been, but that doesn't matter much with the draft in HD.

#20 PG, #90 overall, ****; no promises. The limiting factors for Olsen will be his athleticism and potentially his defense. He will be at least a quality backup for the Spartans. The athleticism issue is a fairly large one for the Press, however.

#1 SG, #9 overall, *****; promised 10 minutes. The prize of the class - a well rounded player in a position of need, who is already polished but also has room to grow. About as close to a surefire NBA player as they come.

#28 PF, #81 overall, ****; no promises. The limiting factor for Richardson will be stamina, with defense also possibly topping off too low. Otherwise he's a very nice player, and could even play SF, in a pinch.

#12 SG, #74 Overall, ****; no promises. We had to beat Butler, a C+ team, for his services. He'll be a good reserve, spark off the bench guy; he'll preferably never breach the starting line, due to his defensive rating/potential.

#31 PF, #95 overall, ****; guaranteed 10 minutes. Michigan State beat out Iowa, Minnesota, and (Sim-controlled) Army for the services of Henry. His success ultimately will depend on how high the ceiling is for him on defense. If it tops out in the 90s, he'll probably be the starting center by the time he's gone. If not, he'll probably be a reserve for his entire career, though that does also depend on the rest of the talent on the roster. The high potential in perimeter makes him a very interesting player.

Well, I have to say that I think this was a pretty good class. Hoffman is a true star, and the other signees should be worthy 2nd teamers, at least. Depending on the ceiling on some of the high potential areas, for everyone else, we could have some very solid Big Ten starters.

Overall Grade: A-minus

The thing is, I think this was the best that this recruiting class could've been this year, barring a crazy signing like the #1 Overall player, a SF, who went to Kansas, and who was closer to Kansas than to MSU, and so wasn't an actual possibility even though he was in Illinois.

I don't think the team is going to start off the season very well. I think that they'll probably be something like 8-8 before the new kids start to learn the system enough to run it properly. Hopefully Libby and Peterkin can carry the team...maybe the junior bigs can step up. Losing Childs and the Polish guy really hurt the team a lot.

This really wasn't the best year for bigs, locally. I wonder if it'll be better next year, and the Spartans will be sitting around with 5 bigs already.
