The Michigan State Spartans Topic

I tried to redshirt Anderson. He didn't like the idea, unfortunately, so he's likely to be pretty useless for his career, except as a defender (and that, even, isn't great without better rebounding). I'm barely going to play him this year. See how you like that, Harry.

Well, I guess thats a nice way for a guy to start his career as a UTEP Miner.

good game, tanner. Kind of ugly, but very close.

We allowed too many offensive rebounds. That's my main complaint with our defense. Our offense could've certainly been better. I'm looking at you, Jimmy Brown.

Here we have a much better game. Forcing 25 turnovers is pretty damn nice. We may be okay this year. We should be, anyways.

Can't ask for much more out of my guys than what they gave here. Maybe I could ***** about the FT shooting or the turnovers, but we were playing another fullcourt press team.

Again, the main thing to complain about is Jimmy Brown's play on offense. Everyone else was at the top of their game. Truth is, West Virginia has a very shallow team - 3 walk-ons and something like 5 freshmen and sophomores - so I absoulutely should've won this game at this stage of the season. Happily, I did.

Bowling Green is coached by gregdoc6, a friend of mine in the context of people I've never met before but corresponded with through HD. He was one of the coaches who succeeded me at USC Aiken. This is his second year in DI, so I knew that BGSU would be fairly weak. Our game is likely to become a yearly thing. I expect they will improve, because gregdoc is very capable, but it took me some time to get Michigan State started, and that was Michigan State, with decent prestige and Big Ten recruiting money.

Anyways, we had a nice game by Diaz and Haines continues to steadily put in very good contributions every game against the reserves of other teams. As I said when I recruited him, do not underestimate the value of an experienced reserve big man.

I was supposed to win this game and I won it. I want to note, though, that the Spartans are among the best defensive teams in DI, statistically, at the moment. I don't want to jinx it or anything, and I doubt that will hold up, but right now, nobody has allowed fewer points. I think that's pretty awesome.

Mid-term grades just came out. I tried to attach it to this email, but if it doesn't come through, let me know - I have a paper copy on my desk.

I highlighted anybody I thought may be a problem. Looks like there's one that needs some extra study hall time:
