#1 PG, #21 Overall, *****; promised 10 minutes.  The sole signee of this class - Kentucky took away a PF/SF - Silvestri is a nice player with a high ceiling.  He's likely to be a pro, which is why MSU had to beat back Tennessee for his services.  No apparent long-term weaknesess.  Rebounding will be a strength, which is great for a PG.

That's the 5th CT Championship in a row.  Also, 7 out of the last 8 have been MSU's.  Very nice.

Anyways, we've won the first NT game and are waiting on the next one.

Coach, that was a tough 2nd round matchup, but given all the parity this season, any team could go down on any given night. Way to keep the guys focused on the task at hand. Good luck in the Sweet 16!

Jamison and Escudero are the goats of the game, but the Spartans lost to a quality team so it's not such a big deal.  Sweet 16 isn't so bad.

#5 C, #18 Overall, Mr. Michigan, *****; no promises. William Jameson is a beast. He could be a little limited by his stamina, but he's going to scrape the 100 rating for rebounding and defense, and possibly shot blocking and low post. The only thing I don't like about him is his low rating and potential in passing, but that's not tremendously important.
Jameson wasn't quite the player that I thought he'd be but he was perfectly solid and turned into a pretty good starter.  I don't know if he'll be drafted.

#18 PG, #85 Overall, ****; JuCo Jr., no promises. Escudero will be backing up Hoffman this year, and may improve enough to step in as the starter at SG next year, though who knows with the new engine how quickly he will improve. Personally, I think that the shift to making guys improve more slowly will be to the detriment of the game. Anyways, under the recent system, Escudero would be a high-quality signing for a team like the Spartans who need warm bodies that will leave in a staggered manner. Hopefully he can hold his own, and improve, in his two years on campus.
Escudero did improve quite well, actually.  He's been a very good player for the Spartans for the past two years, and certainly worth the scholarship.

#11 C, #38 Overall, *****; JuCo Jr., no promises. Yarmitsky is another guy who will ably perform for two years before moving on...probably to Europe. We'll see how he does under the new system. He'll be a big help to this year's team, regardless; for depth, if nothing else.
Yarmitsky was a fine depth guy.  He filled his role.  No complaints.  Not a pro.

#2 SF, #7 Overall, *****; promised the start, guaranteed 10 minutes. William Burke is a fantastic player. Possibly the best player ever signed by a team associated with me. I have gotten a few top SFs before, and they are hard to get, because there are so few of them (Michigan State beat oldresorter's Wisconsin team for Burke), and I think Burke is the best of all of them. He'll be speedy and super athletic, an amazing rebounder for his position, and a great scorer and defender. The only slight area of any complaint is his passing, which isn't all that bad, really. Even his FT shooting is very good. With a guy like this, it isn't a question of whether they go pro early, it's a question of whether you have him for 2 or 3 seasons. Burke's one truly limiting factor is his stamina, which has high potential but which will take him off of the floor more than he should be, at least in the short run.
Burke still had room for improvement but this wasn't exactly a surprise.  It would've been nice to get another year out of him.

Burke got drafted 24th, Jameson 29th.  The guy running the team did a great job of recruiting for this season...looks like a top 5 class for sure:

From what I can tell (colorblind, remember) there's a lot of green in there that isn't showing in this post, unfortunately.  Golden wasn't scouted but he's the #2 player in the country, overall.  Kaczor is #3 overall; both are top in their position.  Nobody has high potential in athleticism or speed; Redick's topped out in athleticism, as is Brodie, and neither Brodie nor Kaczor will gain much speed.  Kaczor won't improve much in rebounding, low post, passing, ballhandling, or stamina, either, but he should see some improvement elsewhere, particularly in perimeter and blocking.  Redick's stamina will improve. Voelker has a few areas of improvement.  These guys have ugly names.  Whatever, they're all young, they'll all be fine, some better than others, some will go pro, others probably won't.
