Say you have a D team, you build something good but on the job offers, you could get a C+ team, do you make the move why?

Can someone explain to me what is a mid-major? I am at IUPUI... People tell me I need to go to a mid-major... but why? Will my prestige rise faster? Will it make any difference? I truly don't understand how it works on prestige at D1, other than I saw the Big Six conférences having that huge conference RPI.

Thanks.

Prestige at division1 is different than the other divisions in a number of ways.  Firstly there is something called baseline prestige:

Each school has a letter grade that it will gravitate to when you get a "normal" season result (something like a NT berth).  By going to a school with a higher baseline prestige, it will be easier to get higher prestige.  Mid Major programs usually reside outside the Power 5 and have a B baseline prestige like those schools in the A10 or Mountain West.

Thanks Bud. It's clear now. So the answer would be : it dépends on the Baseline prestige of the team you can get. I am going to jump on a mid-major if I get the offer then.

if u can move to a C+ from your D school and still look like you can win at the C+  GO!!!!!!!  thats like 2 yrs free prestige at your current school

For what it's worth, I've never qualified for a school with higher current prestige than the one I'm currently coaching.  I know CS says prestiges (current, not baseline) don't play a role in the application process, but figured I'd throw this out there.  You'll have build IUPUI up a little before you can move on to a mid-major type gig.  Or, you'll have to wait for a mid-major to become terrible (like a D-) before you'll qualify.
