This was a really good game. We lead by 12 at the half, but throughout the second half, OR's Wisconsin team kept clawing and clawing to try to take it back. They got very close at times, bringing it within 2 points with about 4 minutes , for instance, but we pulled it off.

Coach, just wanted to formally congratulate you on getting us into the National Tournament! We'd been hoping for a #1 seed, I just couldn't believe it though when it was finally announced. The buzz on campus is electric right now!

Best of Luck - Make us Proud!

We were behind by 11 at the half. Luckiy, we were able to claw out of that hold. Osowski got a little dinged up in the process, but he'll still be playing.

This is the time in the Tournament when I like to take a good look at each team I'm playing before the game. Before this point, for some reason I feel like it jinxes me, whereas now I feel like it doesn't. In a game that is at least partially chance, there's room for superstition.

our next opponent, the #8 Oklahoma Sooners:

Analysis:

This team leans very heavily on its starters and two backups for essentially all of its scoring. The backups are young -- fairly talented, but young. Only one starter has good stamina. Roy Martine must have been a redshirt to have that IQ as a sophomore (double checking -- yes, he was). They have the advantage at the PG slot, with a dynamic, athletic shooter (Jeffery) matching up against a less athletic, pass-first, and slightly injured PG on our side. We have an advantage at SG (though if they switch who plays SG and PG, I'd say we'd be evenly matched on both), but not too much of one -- Weaver isn't really a defender, but he keeps getting steals and dominating with his athleticism, and we should get a few extra rebounds to make up for the ones we might lose to Jeffery. SF is a wash in terms of the starters, but they have a better backup than we do. We're decidedly better in the frontcourt, in depth and FT shooting if nothing else. The team as a whole shoots 3 pointers efficiently but they constitute less than 1/4 of their total shots.

The thing is, I'm not sure I want to deviate from a formula that has succeeded for me for much of the year. Oldresorter would probably tell me to dance with the one that brung me. Still, with 16 teams , the time has come when standing pat is harder to justify. I have to adjust to the circumstances that face me. I'll let you know my gameplan after the game is over. Hopefully, I'll be talking about another team by then.

This year has already been a success, but I'm not yet satisfied. I want one more win. That's the goal right now, anyways.

I went with a fast-paced -1 with a double-if-leading-scorer on Jeffrey. We pulled away in the second half.

Coach, great job getting us this far. I don't care what our seed is or who you are playing, one bad game and you're out - to get to the Elite 8 is nothing short of amazing given the parity in college basketball these days. Best of luck in the Elite 8!
