This is clearly a fluke game but unfortunately it kept MSU from a chance at the championship, yet again.

Ole Miss ran a slowdown, the Spartans ran uptempo - both what should be expected from teams that run 8 deep and 10-11 deep, in a matchup with each other.  What's odd is that MSU lost in every aspect of the game.

Hmm, doesn't seem to show potential.  Well, they're all good players with nice potential.

This recruiting class was ranked the 6th best in DI.

Alabama was number 1, and has an average rating, one game in to the regular season, of 821!  Crazy!

Also of note: Silvestri was named a First Team Preseason All American, and Kaczor was named to the Second Team.

I almost hate to say this, because it could jinx them, but not counting a walk-on, these guys have an average rating of 815+.  That is extraordinarily good at the end of a season, let alone to start one.  There isn't one particular offensive star, except maybe Silvestri, but the defense is outstanding and rebounding should be quite good.  My Maryland team in Crum just won a National Championship with a 1021 rated SF - this team does not have an equivalent to that.  Perhaps having no weaknesses will do the trick.

So far, the scoring distribution is pretty evenly spread out, with Silvestri, Kaczor, and Golden all averaging in double figures.  The team on the whole is outrebounding opponents by 3.4 per game, and is turning it over 6 fewer times.  Blocks and FG% also enjoy a sizeable gap.  We'll see if the Spartans can continue at this pace.  Right now they're ranked 3rd.

I may start posting a little more frequently, now that RPIs have come out and the team is ranked 1st.  They seem to have a chance at being a championship squad this year, at least so far.

The Big Ten is 3rd in collective RPI.  The SEC has 9 ranked teams this year!
