So, we signed three five-star players and one four-star player for four open spots, with all of the recruits ranked in the top 50 overall...that's damn good. Here's the guy that we chose not to battle Kentucky over (considering that he has a tendency to really go all-out, and there were plenty of local options available for the spot):
Perry Gaylor

#13 C, #46 Overall, ****. I liked Gaylor's potential in speed and his current production in FT shooting, and felt that he would top out better than any other big man I saw because of those factors and his other areas of potential. However, there were a half dozen quality big men close to my campus who I would have been able to bring in with more certainty. I decided between Rosen and Brandon Payeur, who at the time was considering only Ohio State but who eventually signed with LSU. Here he is, for the record:

WIth his low potential in Low Post, I considered Payeur to be more of a SF/PF hybrid, and compared him with Charles Joyce when I was first compiling our recruits list. Ultimately I thought that Payeur would be a better rebounder by far, and probably a better scorer due to the 17-point gap in perimeter but Joyce would be better with ball handling and about equivalent in passing, and more athletic and slightly faster. I decided to go with Joyce. I considered Payeur again when we gave up on Gaylor, but thought that Rosen would be an easier player to pull away, and a better scorer.
-----------
The guys we brought in shored up our depth in the frontcourt and at the SF spot (although we would've been fine at SF, between Thomas, Juhl, and Sheehan. For that matter, Nutter makes a decent SF, too, although he's slighly underwhelming as a rebounder and has no interior game.
They say that great programs don't rebuild, they reload. I feel like we reloaded here. Another championship run is not outside of the realm of possibility.

Well, well, well - guess who's recruiting class was just ranked #4 by CollegiateInsider.com? Nice job! Everybody in the Athletic Department is really excited - I think I'm even getting the administration behind what you're doing. Keep up the good work!
