Of course I’ll start with myself….I don’t think I could have done a better job with my 1st 5 picks. I mean I could have taken A.D. again and tried to replicate the magic from last year but I wanted to have a different team and Kareem is excellent. I am not enthusiastic about my 6th and 7th round picks and I did not have any epiphanies while building out my squad like last season. I’d put my starting 5 Kareem, Walton, M. Porter, THad Young, and G Payton up against anyone’s but I predict barely squeaking into the playoffs as a 5-6 seed.
I like the starting five but it seems real expensive. How do you feel about the bench?
My bench sucks that’s why I am not feeling like I can repeat. My starting 5 should be good enough to get me to the playoffs

Chewy’s team kinda jumps out at me. Jokic’s recent season is probably top 3 in wis. Yeah yeah it’s just 32 mins a game but they are the best 32 mins. I wonder if Paul George isn’t a little overrated? Doesn’t seem like teams with him really excel but I have never personally had him on a team. Seems like u could cobble together 2 players with a higher performance return and a lower cost per minute giving u more $ in the ODL. But, I do think this team will be sneaky good and make the playoffs.

I think I really like Robusk’s team. He made a couple draft spot trades. Harden and Kawhi combo in the back court is gonna be tough to beat. And just f-ing great, he’s in my Division. And, he took my mainstay Bogdan who has a season at over 60 efg with over 20 U off the bench. I am lobbying wis for a +4 setting for perimeter D. Definitely a playoff team and someone I don’t want to face but in the end, just don’t think this team will have enough inside scoring to win it all.

Jethroeg— a home run, a double, and 5 strike outs. Your batting .285 which isn’t gonna get u in the HOF, nor the playoffs. Makes me wonder if u are a real owner or someone who works for WIS who plays to just fill out leagues? Strong start with Shaq and u broke Midge’s heart by taking Halibut then it’s like u had a stroke. This team will struggle to win 20 games.

Steelers… I am a huge fan of. The Steelers football team, not this wis team. I had a bad experience with Giannis in the 52 a season ago and don’t care for him. Big mistake not taking Curry or Jokic here. Then, u got smart and tried to copy my team from last season with Kyrie and Pippen. However, I am not buying the next 3 picks of Evans, Nance, and Edge. I really like the Eaton pick. He’s like a poor man’s version of Bill Russell. But the problem is he’s like 90% at PF so his 100D does not translate well. This is a team that will hover around .500

Dakjd—-what can u say? A team with Lebron always has a fighting chance to make the playoffs. Valanciunas is fantastic on O but limited on D. It’s like u got a couple 90 D guys and a couple 40 D guys. I don’t recall Korver or Ingles being picked so early. Yeah, they shoot a ton of 3’s but u probably could have gotten then in the 5th or later. I have been surprised recently at the SIM’s lack of respect for strong defensive players, so u have a chance to make the playoffs but your draft coulda been so much better.

Yeah I spent an hour debating between the 3 I think I regret my Giannis pick but we’ll see. Lol I didn’t originally plan two copy those picks but when kyrie fell to me it seemed like he’d fit well. Pippen helps with the usage and I was hoping for another “do it all” player. Evans and nance were panick picks when McCollum and Ibaka went. I like how edge and eaton fit. very versatile defensively other than Eaton.

thanks for doing these!

Jhsukow—-I am stunned that Draymond Green hasn’t been more of a difference maker than he has in a teams success. Must be the turnovers. Looney is a great pick and was an integral part of my team last season. There were others available that should have been taken instead of where u took Danny Green and Varejao. U got Wilt, so he’s good for 30 wins and maybe he’s the guy that Draymond will go well with. Methinks u are going to be disappointed and will just miss the playoffs.

Wait until savoybg uncovers the Bob Cousy posts.
My rating system has real life Cousy as overrated, and he's certainly not real good in this sim, unless he is only playing against players from his own era.

Thanks for sharing left wing all3.

Can't remember if copernicus was the other side of the table on this one or not, but I recall making the case that Cousy would struggle to make a high end varsity HS team in 2022. He literally stared at the floor when he dribbled, could only dribble with one hand, had poor agility, played super stiff and upright, couldn't shoot... I am not one of these "all the old players suck" kind of guys. Lots of them are good. I think Nate Thurmond is like a top 150 all time player! Kareem is arguably better than Jordan. Jerry West is significantly better than Kobe. I just think Cousy is pure butt and people pretending he isn't butt are drunk on nostalgia.
And yet he was clearly the best PG of his era. The skill level has just gotten amazing nowadays. You can't even be a varsity high school PG if you can't dribble between your legs and behind your back masterfully. If you watch clips of 60s players most of them look at the ball when they dribble and even dribble right handed when they go to the left.

There were almost no big men who could handle the ball well and dribble upcourt in the 60s. Now almost all of them can do that easily while dribbling through their legs to stop steal attempts.

My buddy Midge. Started off very strong, but a monkey coulda made your 1st 3 picks. :) Curry fell in his lap. Bam is always picked late in the 2nd round. Collins is a great pick and almost always goes in the 3rd. Then, the Gomer Pyle pick. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. Midge takes Portis in the 4th for like the 8th draft in a row. Shoulda let the monkey keep making your picks cause Ward is an underperformer and D Melton and J Nelson are ok. But where’s your center? All kidding aside along with missing out on a center aside, these players are good and without even looking at who u went with on the free agent market in the middle, I’d say this team has a legit shot at the playoffs.

Although I completely agree with the talent level now vs the 50s and maybe even early 60s I feel like the dribbling is a bit overrated. I’ve started watching in the 2000s but now a days you can carry the ball whenever you want. Back then you basically had to dribble it with your palm over the ball at all times. I wonder if people like west and other top guards of the late 60s through 80s could’ve done what’s going on today with todays rules.

A home run, a double and 5 strikeouts is awesome. That's an OPS of .1143 which would lead almost any league in any season ever.

PB&J—-just a little early to take Chris Paul but it worked out for me cause it led to my having a choice of Kareem, AD, or K. Malone later on. Interesting draft. I like the guys u picked but just don’t think they’ll fit together like u want. Kind of a good hodge podge. Just barely missing the playoffs and will drive u crazy all year long trying to figure out combinations and substitution patterns.

I was a high school ref for 17 years, and even most of the guards on the boys teams here in the Newark, NJ area handle the ball better than most NBA guards did in the 60s. As for guys getting away with palming the ball in the NBA, the long time rules interpreter who taught the cadet class here when I took it in 1995 used to tell us that the NBA is not basketball, it's entertainment.

With the low minutes totals that these teams have there really isn't much discretion in substitution patterns. It's not like you can change who is in the rotation like you can in non salary capped leagues.
